Maintaining Solar Water Heating Systems

The development of green energy is as controversial as ever, but one thing you can’t deny is that – green energy is getting more and more efficient, and more affordable with every passing year. One of the main uses of this energy is implementing the technology of a solar water heating system.

Generally, solar water heaters require less maintenance. However, it’s necessary to check your solar water heater at least once a year to ensure all components are in top condition and to keep the system working perfectly.

Some of the components of solar water heating systems that should be monitored include:

1. Solar Collectors –

Solar collectors should remain un-shaded. It’s really common for solar panels that were in complete sun exposure when they are installed to receive shading due to tree growth. You may need to trim or remove vegetation.

Many states have their solar laws and regulations that protect the rights of a solar homeowner to maintain the solar accessibility for existing systems.

Dirt and dust particles can impact on the performance of collector. During dry, dusty weather condition, the solar panels may require cleaning periodically. Usually, snow and ice melt off on their own , but may require to be removed during heavy accumulations, if the panels are mounted at a shallow angle.

The solar collectors should be checked for yellowing or cracks. The seals can be checked to make sure they are still in good condition.

2. Roof and support

Roof penetration should be checked on an annual basis to be sure there are no issues with water leakage. Both the nuts and bolts on racking systems should be inspected for tightness as well as racks are checked for signs of stress.

3. Pump

It’s really necessary that the pump should remain in good condition as the pump failure can cause the solar water heating systems to overheat. The cold supply, high-pitched noises, return pipes are the best possible signs of a pump failure. If you find the pump is compromised, it should be repaired or replaced right away.

4. Controllers and sensors

Both the sensors and controllers are the main part of the control system for your water heat. So it’s important that they should function properly. To check a sensor, apply mild heat. Remember, it should record the rise in temperature.

Many controllers come with digital displays that indicate malfunctions. However, you should check the unit by triggering differential – the temperature difference that the system is programmed. You can do this by apply heath and cold to the sensors until the system reacts.

5. Heat transfer fluid

Most solar water heating systems use a glycol solution. You should check the fluid annually to make sure it’s in good condition and should be replaced, if required. If you keep the system in a hard water area, the fluid should be treated to prevent scale.

6. Hot water storage tank

Hot water storage tank should be checked periodically for corrosion, leaks, or cracks.

While many of the parts can be checked by the user, some of them are best performed by a solar expert. Visit Website to know more information about solar water heating systems!

Solar Water Heaters for Pools: An In-Depth Efficiency Analysis

Harnessing the Solar Energy to Heat Your Pool Solar pool heaters are rapidly gaining popularity as pool owners seek eco-friendly and affordable ways to extend their swimming seasons. If you are wondering how efficient a solar water heater is actually for a pool, please dive into this blog post and find out. Considering the Efficiency Factor The efficiency of a solar pool heater depends on factors, like: Geographic location – The regions receiving abundant sunshine naturally benefit more from solar water heaters for pools. Pool size – Large-size pools need more solar panels to achieve desired temperatures. Panel quality - High-quality solar panels absorb enough solar energy for heating pool water. Installation - Proper pool heating system installation maximizes overall efficiency. On average, solar pool heaters can increase water temperature by 5 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. Even if it might not be enough for colder climates during peak winter months, it can significantly extend th...

Eco-Friendly Swimming: How Thermax Extreme Solar Pool Heating Benefits the Environment

With the current advancement in solar pool heating technology, it’s time to say goodbye to installing leaky plastic mats on rooftops. The Thermax Extreme Solar Pool Heating System provides efficiency, durability, and eco-friendliness utilizing advanced solar collectors for optimal performance and efficiency. This solar pool heater features high-powered advanced solar collectors manufactured from stainless steel or titanium heat exchangers. These materials provide resilience against the corrosive effects of chlorinated water; and eliminate the hassle of damage that often comes with conventional solar heating systems. Moreover, this type of solar pool heating system doesn’t need oversized pumps to circulate large volumes of water to the roof. It’s because a small circulating pump can draw less power than a light bulb while providing a 20-year life expectancy. Why Do Pool Owners Install Thermax Extreme Solar Pool Heaters? Operational Versatility The Thermax system features ...
